Subaru Impreza

What's new

Update! On May 15, 2002, I took the plunge and traded in my lovable RS for a black 2002 WRX Wagon.  The RS was a very fun car that responded extremely well to modifications.  It had a ton of low-end torque, much more than the WRX below 3000 RPM, making it a fantastic daily driver.  I loved that car and will miss it dearly.

Introduction

This is a very rare car and hard to find exactly what you want.  I've never heard of any dealer having more than 8 of these on the lot at a time.  Most dealers will have no more than 3.  You really have to order one to get what you want and exclude what you don't want.

image2.jpg (8700 bytes)I ordered mine with a whole list of options on Thursday, January 6, 2000.  Ada Wolfe was my very kind salesperson.  She was very knowledgeable about the Subaru line and Subaru's WRC history.  She explained all the options available and how long it would take to get the car and why.  It arrived at the dealership on Monday, February 28, 2000 and I picked it up on Thursday, March 2, 2000.   It had 38 miles on it so it obviously had not been taken out for any reasons!   Yippee!

United States Sales Numbers: Impreza 2.5 RS

Year Trim Transmission Sales
1998 All All 1702
1999 All All 2140
2000 All All 5890
2001 All All 4093

2001 Coupe 5-speed 1701
2001 Coupe Automatic 324
2001 Coupe All 2025
2001 Sedan 5-speed 1057
2001 Sedan Automatic 1011
2001 Sedan All 2068

The sales figures dropped in 2001 because the model year was shortened from 12 months to 6 months.  One thing worth noting is that the 2001 Sedan vs Coupe #'s were very close.  Subaru claims to have dropped Impreza coupes because of lack of sales.  I don't have the international sales figures, but obviously the North American numbers don't reflect their decision.
